The San Francisco 49ers (0-1) face off against the New York Jets (0-1) in this week 2 matchup. On offense, the Jets just lost Le'Veon Bell so they will mix in Frank Gore and Josh Adams in the backfield. The Jets are going to rely on short passes to get the job done here with Le'Veon out, I don't expect Frank Gore to be the man here in the backfield.
On offense for the 49ers, I expect them to exploit the Jets pass protection with Jalen Hurd, brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Jordan reed. Raheem Mostert will take most of the carries here and the 49ers offensive line should help him break into open field.
On defense, the Jets have a good front line but their linebackers and pass protection is weak. This is a bad week for the Jets to have an unreliable defense, and I think Jimmy G is going to have a solid day.
For the 49ers on defense, I expect them to out play the Jets. The may have struggled with DeAndre Hopkins but he's an extraordinary exception. Josh Adams and Chris Hogan are likely to struggle on defense, and with Nick Bosa leading the defensive line, I don't expect the Jets to have a great day offensively.
I'm going with the 49ers to cover the spread here, George Kittle has had some knee issues, but Jimmy G should be able to dominate this weak defense. The 49ers defense should also limit the Jets today.
