We have our second game of the first round playoff matchup between the Clippers and the Mavericks. Mavericks are coming off a hard fought loss to the Clippers. The Mavericks lost Kristaps Porzingis to an ejection, due to receiving two technical fouls in one game. Luka Doncic proved he can step up in adversity posting 42 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds. Porzingis posted 14 points, 1 assist, and 6 rebounds in just 20 minutes and was on pace for a solid performance until he was ejected in the 3rd quarter with 9 minutes left. What makes this ejection interesting is that the Mavericks held the lead at 71-66, so one could speculate that the Clippers may have not won, nor covered the spread if he was playing. Tim Hardway tallied 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist on 43.8% from the field. The Mavericks are likely to be without Seth Curry, who put up 14 points in their last game as a key contributer from the bench. Trey Burke had a bad game posting 2 points in 20 minutes and is also listed as day to day on the injury list.

The Clippers look great and they are without any injuries coming into this game. Montrezzl Harrell returned to action for just 15 minutes and it appears the Clippers are easing him into rotation which is good news for the Clippers long term. Marcus Morris was able to make the most of his shots giving the Clippers 19 points on 61.5%. Paul George tallied 27 points, and Kawhi posted 29 points. Both George and Leonard looked extremely efficient down the stretch, always looking for the right plays and making the most of their shots. I also feel the fact that the Clippers have a three point guard rotation between Patrick Beverly, Lou Williams, Reggie Jackson, enables them to play tougher defense without worrying about giving up fouls, until the Mavericks hit the bonus.

Without their 6th man Seth Curry, the Mavericks are going to need someone else to create a spark from the bench. If they can't get that spark from the bench, Luka, Porzingis, or Hardaway are going to have to step up to keep them within reach of winning the game. If Trey Burke is ruled out too, I have to go with the Clippers to cover the spread on this one. Trey Burke and Seth Curry give the Mavericks options from the bench and spread the floor so if they don't play that will lead to mismatches because of the Clippers depth.
